The regional spelling bee was held at Dillard University over the weekend. The event brought together about 200 students who won their local school’s spelling bee for the chance to compete at the national competition.
First Place: Langston Jones, seventh-grader from Ecole Bilingue de la Nouvelle Orleans
Second place: Alexandra Eyzaguirre, eighth-grader from Clearwood Junior High School
Third Place: Josephinehi Hanemann, seventh-grader from Christian Brothers School
The winner gets an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C., and an opportunity to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 24-29, 2026.
This is the 37th year the spelling bee has been hosted by the New Orleans (LA) Chapter of The Links, Inc.
