The Slidell Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old in connection with a deadly shooting of an 18-year-old last Wednesday night.
Police said with the help of the United States Marshals Service and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, investigators learned that the juvenile was hiding in the Hancock County, Mississippi area.
They attempted to arrest him on Monday at a residence in Hancock County but he was not at the residence.
He turned himself in on Monday to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
He will soon be extradited back to Louisiana and will face one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Last Wednesday, Slidell police officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire near Possum Hollow Park.
Interim Police Chief Daniel Seuzeneau said officers found Chance’lor Parker, 18, of Lacombe with multiple gunshot wounds. The teen was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Parker died of gunshot wounds to his torso and a lower extremity, according to St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape.
The park where the shooting happened is just two miles from the heart of the city, and becomes only the second homicide of the year, according to Slidell police.
This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
