The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) announced that eight schools have been named Louisiana Blue Ribbon Schools. The honorees include public and nonpublic schools and are located in East Baton Rouge, Iberia, Jefferson, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, Terrebonne, and Vermilion parishes. The recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance and make significant strides in closing achievement gaps.
The Louisiana Blue Ribbon Schools are:
- Caneview Elementary | Iberia Parish
- Cecil Picard Elementary | Vermilion Parish
- Early College Academy | Lafayette Parish
- Haynes Academy | Jefferson Parish
- Mulberry Elementary | Terrebonne Parish
- South Live Oak Elementary | Livingston Parish
- St. Dominic School | New Orleans Archdiocese
- St. Jude School | Baton Rouge Diocese
“These schools have demonstrated a clear and consistent commitment to educational excellence,” said Louisiana State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley. “It’s an honor to recognize the hard work and leadership of these students, educators, and families.”
About Louisiana Blue Ribbon Schools
Louisiana nominated these eight schools as 2025 National Blue Ribbon Schools. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) encouraged states to recognize their 2025 nominees after the national program was discontinued earlier this year.
The LDOE is collaborating with each school as they plan celebrations at their campuses.
About National Blue Ribbon Schools
The National Blue Ribbon Schools program was a recognition program jointly administered by ED and state departments of education. ED set the criteria for “High Performing” and “Achievement Gap Closing” schools, and state liaisons nominated schools that met these definitions based on state assessment results.
In the spirit of Returning Education to the States, ED ended its role in the program and encouraged states to tailor their own recognition programs to celebrate exemplary schools that are achieving the unique educational goals in their state.
