Ten candidates ran for the newly redrawn U.S. 6th Congressional District.
The position was formerly held by U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields, who has since launched a campaign for Louisiana Senate District 14.
The district was redrawn in the spring and is now a majority-white district.
Those on the ballot include Republicans Monique Appeaning, Larry Davis III, “Rick” Edmonds, Michael Mebruer, Blake Miguez, and Stephen Wagley. Democrats on the ballot include Chauna Banks, Patrick “Pat” Forbes, and Lindsay “Rubia” Garcia.
Rufus Craig is also on the ballot for the Libertarian Party.
This election will more than likely result in a December runoff.
The 6th Congressional District covers Baton Rouge, parts of the River Parishes, and stretches into Shreveport.
