The New Orleans Saints have released kicker Daniel Carlson.
Signed just before the regular season started, Carlson has been one of the league’s worst kickers in 2026.
He’d missed four field goals and two extra points in just seven games for New Orleans.
He was ranked 31st (out of 32) in field goal percentage and 29th (out of 32) in extra point percentage.
The Saints have Irish kicker Charlie Smyth on the practice squad and could elevate him for the team’s game Sunday in the Caesars Superdome against the Cleveland Browns. Head Coach Kellen Moore could also sign a kicker this week and have that player ready for the weekend.
Moore meets the media Wednesday and will address the Saints kicking situation.
The Black & Gold are 2-5 overall and had a bye last weekend.
