Now having touched down in the City of Light, Saints fans are getting to experience Paris firsthand after wondering all week if protests and ongoing unrest would throw a wrench in their plans.
“We haven’t seen any of the demonstrations, but we’ve seen some of the destruction. I took a picture of a burnt building,” said Jeff Moyle.
Moyle says while walking through the city they’ve also seen broken windows in several structures, but nothing has negatively impacted his jam-packed itinerary, planned through TrueFan Travel.
According to Moyle, Parisians have been kind and welcoming, with some even apologizing for the ongoing demonstrations. Moyle and his family spent their first full day taking a scenic dinner river tour on the Seine and plan to travel to the Palace of Versailles on Saturday.
Meanwhile, New Orleans organizations and businesses are gearing up to bring a taste of the Crescent City to Paris.
The New Orleans Jazz Museum is hosting its fourth annual jazz festival in Paris. This year, they’ve Organizers say over the last few years, it’s gained popularity with locals and they’re excited for more New Orleanians to experience it this year, too.
The event will be complete with a second line and a po’boy tailgate.
“It’s such a perfect partnership between these two cities as well. There’s so much French culture here in New Orleans, so this is really an opportunity to highlight what makes New Orleans special,” said Dan Trahant with Blue Plate Mayo.
