The Washington Parish Fire District responded to a brush fire off Highway 16 early Sunday morning.
The winds subsided long enough for firefighters to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading any further.
A burn ban is in effect for all of Washington Parish.
Due to dry and windy conditions, Parish President Ryan Seal has issued a burn ban effective immediately.
The burn ban goes into effect immediately and will remain in place until rescinded.
