Thanks to Friday’s cold front, cooler air continues to move into the Deep South, including Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi. Temperatures across the Northshore Sunday morning will fall to the upper 40s and low 50s. Morning lows across the River Parishes, Metro, and Bayou will range from the mid-50s to mid-60s. This will be some of the coolest weather in several months.
If you are headed to any of the many festivals this Sunday, highs will struggle to reach the mid-70s in the afternoon. Winds won’t be as strong as Saturday, but gusts up to 20 mph still look possible.
The next several days hold much of the same weather forecast: cooler mornings, drier days, and mild afternoons. The New Orleans Airport, much like most of Southeast Louisiana, hasn’t seen a drop of rain in the past twelve days.
As high pressure from Canada keeps the cooler air south, it will also keep rain and humidity offshore. No rain is in the forecast over the next seven days, causing a potential drought across much of the state.
Highs stick around in the 70s through mid-week and will return to the low 80s by the end of the work week.
