Broadcasting legend Mike Tirico returns to New Orleans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Domecoming.
Now the face of NBC sports, Tirico was with ESPN in 2006 and called the first game in the Superdome following Hurricane Katrina.
His call of Steve Gleason’s blocked against the Atlanta Falcons is an example of masterclass sports play-by-play.
In the seconds after the big play, Tirico remained silent for nearly a minute, allowing the national TV audience the chance to see, hear and feel what the passionate crowd in the dome was celebrating.
Tirico will be in the Superdome again Monday night as a special guest.
WATCH the full Q&A Sports Director Fletcher Mackel did with Tirico talking about the Domecoming anniversary.
