A Hammond Police officer has been arrested and accused in connection with two domestic violence incidents, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Corey Bergeron, 28, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail Monday and is facing one count each of battery on a dating partner with strangulation, a felony, and battery on a dating partner.
His bond was set at $50,000.
According to the sheriff’s office, on Thursday, Sept. 24, a woman reported an altercation with Bergeron at his home in the Robert area.
During the investigation, deputies found evidence of at least one prior incident involving the same victim, according to the sheriff.
Warrants were issued for Bergeron’s arrest and he was taken into custody at the Tangipahoa Parish courthouse.
According to the Hammond Police Department, Bergeron is on administrative leave.
