Three men face charges for selling illegal and prohibited drugs in Oxford.
This comes days after two Ole Miss students suffered possible overdoses.
Lafayette County Metro Narcotics said Thursday that it arrested Yahya Mosleh, 51, of Oxford, and Islam Mohamed, 18, of Oxford. They were charged with possession of Schedule I controlled substances with the intent to distribute.
Investigators found that THC cartridges, gummies, kratom and other suspected narcotics were being sold at Puffs Vape, Tobacco and Beer Store on Heritage Drive in Oxford.
The store owner, Amer Alowdi, 40, was indicted for trafficking narcotics back in 2022 and fled the country before prosecution.
Earlier this week, Aidan Hamilton, a freshman from Englewood, Colorado, and Robert Strang, a junior from Atlanta, Georgia, were found dead, one at their home off campus, the other inside their dorm on campus.
Investigators are looking into their causes of death, but in both cases, kratom was found.
Kratom has been banned in Lafayette County since 2019, officials said.
Lafayette County Metro Narcotics said the men arrested may not be the only ones involved with the sale of illegal drugs, and more arrests could be made.
