The Franklinton Police Department is warning the public about a phone scam after the police chief received a call from someone claiming to be him.
According to the Franklinton Police Department, a caller who identified himself as Chief Justin Brown called the actual chief.
According to the police department, the call comes from a phone number that appears to be from the Franklinton Police Department, but the caller requests information or makes threats.
The police department reminds residents that Chief Brown will not call from the department number, and will never request personal information, make threats of arrest, or ask for money.
Chief Brown encourages anyone who receives a suspicious call to hang up and call the actual Franklinton Police Department.
