Watching a wave near Africa
A tropical wave is emerging off the coast of Africa today. It has decent thunderstorm activity and modest low-level spin, which indicates this system may have a shot at becoming the next named storm.
It has a near-zero chance of forming into a tropical cyclone within two days and a 30% chance within seven days.
Some slow development is possible as the wave moves west-northwest or northwest across the far eastern Atlantic. Gusty winds and heavy rain could reach the Cabo Verde Islands by the end of the week.
No impacts expected to Louisiana at this time.
