The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly double shooting that left one man dead and another injured in Independence.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Highway 40. The investigation shut down a portion of Highway 40 until about 7:00 a.m. Monday.
The sheriff’s office says initial findings lead them to believe this was a drive-by shooting, though it’s not clear if it was targeted or random.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker says the victim who was taken to the hospital is expected to survive.
The sheriff’s office has not yet identified a suspect and says they will provide additional updates Monday.
