An evening downpour caused flooding on Freret Street near South Carrollton Avenue, leaving a local nail salon owner and her customers grappling with a recurring issue.
“Every time it rains, we worry,” said Cindy Tran, owner of Cindy’s Nail & Spa.
On Saturday, the flooding surpassed the sidewalk, and got into Tran’s salon.
“That hurts my businesses,” said Tran, ” have to wait an hour to move their car.”
Tran’s regular clients also said Saturday’s street conditions weren’t anything new.
“This happens all the time. Right here. It’s really, really bad,” said Kylia Hester, customer, “it’s just crazy. I don’t know why it always happens like this, but it always happens like this.”
As Tran said her taxes are high, she and her regular customers are eager for the drainage issues to be addressed.
The latest equipment update from the Sewerage and Water Board is from Thursday September 3, and showed 88 out of 93 major pumps functional.
