A fire at an apartment complex on Reverend Richard Wilson Drive in Kenner Wednesday night has displaced dozens of families, according to the Kenner Fire Department.
Fire officials said they were called to the scene around 7 p.m. and arrived within minutes. The fire began on the second floor of a building containing 11 apartments. While no injuries were reported, residents of the entire complex are unable to stay there tonight due to a power shutdown.
“Thirty-four families have been displaced,” Jason Dyer from the Kenner Fire Department said. “Not clear how many people are in each family, but American Red Cross and Jefferson Parish are working hand in hand to make sure everybody has a place to go for the night.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
