Louisiana State Police are investigating two separate crashes on the U.S. 90 Business Expressway.
The crashes happened Tuesday morning near MacArthur Boulevard, and one crash involved a school bus.
During peak commute hours, two lanes were blocked. The crash has since been cleared, and traffic is moving.
According to Louisiana State Police, there were a total of 46 children on the bus.
A total of 15 students were taken to an area medical center to be evaluated.
Louisiana State Police did not identify the school the children attended.
The Young Audiences Charter School have issued the following statement on the crash:
“This morning, a school bus transporting Young Audiences Charter Schools students to the YACS Gautier Campus was involved in an accident in Jefferson Parish. Following established safety protocols, 15 students were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation as a precaution. We are grateful that no serious injuries were reported and all students are doing well.
School administrators immediately responded and notified their parents and guardians. The safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority.”
