A group of about half a dozen New Orleans teenagers has created a music video titled “Calling on the Lord” to celebrate youth creativity and inspire advocacy, healing, and change, particularly among local teenagers.
“It feels good to feel like I’m being heard and that my opinion and my voice does matter,” one participant said.
Another participant said, “Art saved my life. Art pulled me out of the community, gave me a platform to travel, to be exposed to different things. So I just wanted to.”
The video will premiere at the Back-to-SchoolTalent Artivism Showcase, which begins at 11 a.m. at VOTE New Orleans, located at 4930 Washington Avenue.
The Dorian Francis Foundation and the People Power Corps partnered for this event.
