A Ponchatoula man has been arrested for multiple thefts in the area.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says that on Tuesday, it began investigating after a resident on North Hoover Road reported his ATV stolen.
Another resident on South Thibodeaux Road reported that his trail camera was stolen, but it was still live-streaming as the suspect drove away with it.
TPSO says the resident was able to report a description of the car from a different camera on his property, which helped deputies track down the truck in Ponchatoula with the suspect, Ronnie Cummings, 50, behind the wheel.
During the traffic stop, several other stolen items from Thibodeaux Road were found along with the keys to the stolen ATV from North Hoover Road.
When the owner of the ATV arrived to reclaim the keys, he informed deputies that he had been made aware of the possible location of the ATV off of Esterbrook Road due to Cummings having attempted to sell it online earlier in the day at the same time the owner posted about it being stolen.
They located the ATV in the area a short time later.
According to TPSO, during the arrest, the owner of the truck arrived at the scene to reported that while he had allowed Cummings to borrow the truck, he was refusing to return it.
Cummings was arrested and is being charged with felony theft, theft of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
A passenger in the truck, Jerry Hedgepeth, 45, was also arrested after it was discovered that he placed some of the items stolen from the South Thibodeaux Road theft at his property located nearby.
Hedgepeth is being charged with illegal possession of stolen items.
