New Orleans police have arrested an off-duty Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office employee following allegations of drug possession and human trafficking-related offenses.
Police say the incident happened around 11:42 a.m. at the intersection of St. Peter Street and North Rampart Street.
Ronald Baptiste, 47, is being charged with false imprisonment, simple battery, furnishing alcohol to persons under 21, and narcotics-related offenses.
Baptiste is accused of picking up the victims at the intersection and telling them he would bring them to a snowball stand, but didn’t.
NOPD says he then drove the victims around to different locations, offering them drugs.
OPSO says the acts being investigated are not alleged to have occurred on OPSO property, nor are they alleged to be related to Baptiste’s employment with OPSO,
which began in 2024.
No other information has been provided at this time.
