Entergy New Orleans has canceled planned power outages this week amid ongoing extreme heat.
The outages have been cancelled for the remainder of the week.
The scheduled power outages were to address system upgrades, affecting hundreds of customers across the city as temperatures remain in the mid-90s.
During the peak heat this afternoon, heat index values are forecast to surge up to 115 degrees. Overnight temperatures will offer little relief, only dropping into the upper 70s and low 80s by early Wednesday morning before we repeat the cycle all over again.
Another Extreme Heat Warning could easily be required for Wednesday afternoon as heat indices remain well over 110 degrees.
