The New Orleans coroner’s office identified the woman who was found dead in a Mid-City residence on Friday evening.
The woman was identified as Jessyca C. Gelpi, 42.
The coroner’s office says Gelpi’s cause of death was a gunshot wound, but on Friday police said she was found with blunt force trauma to the head.
Police say the incident happened in the 4000 block of Banks Street around 3:15 p.m.
When EMS arrived at the scene, the victim was declared dead.
During the investigation, the incident was determined to be a homicide.
