The New Orleans Police Department has arrested two people in connection with a deadly shooting at a rental property in the Milan neighborhood.
The shooting happened on June 28 during a party at the property on Louisiana Avenue.
According to the coroner, Shawn Mitchell, 20, was identified as the person killed in the shooting.
Mitchell died on July 3 at a hospital, authorities said.
According to the NOPD, Joseph Washington and Cameron Thomas were arrested in connection with the investigation.
Washington is facing a charge of second-degree murder, and Thomas is facing a charge of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder.
Both were arrested Thursday morning by the U.S. Marshals Office in coordination with NOPD and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Thomas was arrested in the 7800 block of Dorsett Drive in New Orleans, and Washington was arrested in the 4000 block of South Dells Street in Harvey.
Washington was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he will be extradited to Orleans Parish at a later time.
Thomas was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

Police said the shooting happened in the 2200 block of Louisiana Avenue. About 20 people were attending a party when gunshots were heard near the front side alley of the residence.
Patrons fled to the rear of the home when more gunshots were heard from that area.
Police described the suspect as an unknown man with dreadlocks, wearing a long-sleeved beige shirt. The suspect fled the scene.
The shooting occurred just before 3 a.m. and remains under investigation.
