Waymo is continuing to expand across the New Orleans Metro, with more being spotted in Jefferson Parish.
According to Councilmember Arita Bohannan, Waymo self-driving cars are out testing and mapping Jefferson Parish streets.
This comes as similar testing is underway in New Orleans and other areas across the country.
Most recently, Waymo self-driving cars encountered challenges in San Francisco during the city’s recent fireworks show.
Several Waymo cars became stuck in traffic following the event, prompting employees to arrive and tow the vehicles away.
The company explained that “extreme traffic congestion disrupted normal operations.”
In a separate incident, a Waymo car drove over a firework in the middle of the street.
In Atlanta, a Waymo car recently drove into floodwaters, and last year in Los Angeles, one drove into an active police scene.
Waymo stated they are “committed to evaluating and learning from these events.”
