An Orleans Parish Inspector General report accuses an unnamed New Orleans Police Department officer of falsifying overtime reports to earn more than $300,000 over two years.
Between January 2022 and June 2024, the officer is accused of working full overnight shifts and overtime while on personal trips.
The report states that no travel authorizations or leave request records exist for the trips, and it is believed that a supervisor’s credentials were used to falsify the records.
In April, the NOPD implemented new protocols aimed at preventing payroll fraud.
Efforts are ongoing to identify the officer and determine whether any charges have been filed against them.
