Three people have been arrested in connection with a shooting and home invasion in Raceland.
The incident happened on June 24 in the 400 block of Mitchell Road.
According to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, two masked mens with guns forced their way into a home where two friends were inside.
Shots were fired, and two people were injured.
Deputies identified Juwan Vedol, 27, of Raceland, Justin Lawson, 46, of Matthews, and Austin Barlow, 24, of Houma, as suspects in the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, Vedol and Lawson are accused of carrying out the home invasion where the victim was shot. T
he victim was seriously wounded during the incident and has subsequently been released from the hospital.
Barlow is accused of a drug deal with Vedol leading up to the incident, and is also accused of coordinating the events.
At Barlow’s home, investigators found drugs and a gun. He was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on a warrant for principal to attempted second-degree murder, possession of marijuana, possession of Xanax, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics, and possession of an unregistered weapon.
Bail was set at $771,500, and he is also being held for Terrebonne Parish on an outstanding warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
A search of Lawson’s home also turned up drugs. He was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder and home invasion, as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana, synthetic marijuana, and Suboxone. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office. His bail was set at $700,000.
Vedol was arrested at his home on St. Louis Street in Raceland on Tuesday morning, where more drugs were found.
Vedol was booked into the Correctional Complex on charges of attempted second-degree murder, home invasion, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal conspiracy, as well as possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana.
His bail was set at $771,000.
