The man accused of shooting a woman in Metairie last Wednesday is now being charged with murder.
Kennedy George, 33, was arrested on June 24 after he allegedly shot the 21-year-old woman in the head at least once.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says the victim died from her injuries on Tuesday.
Deputies say the shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 6200 block of Riverside Drive on June 24, around 8 p.m.
When they arrived at the scene, they found the woman unresponsive on the ground outside of the residence, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies located a car being driven by George in the nearby area, and around 8:10 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Power Boulevard and West Esplanade Avenue.
George was taken into custody and was initially booked with attempted second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm, but following the victim’s death, the attempted second-degree murder was upgraded to second-degree murder.
