Update: Police say the vehicle in the carjacking has been recovered. However, the search for the suspect is ongoing.

New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a perpetrator and locating the car taken in an armed carjacking in the Lower Ninth Ward area.
The carjacking happened in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue around 2:43 a.m. on Sunday.
Police say the suspect is described as a male between the ages of 14 and 16, wearing a black hoodie, light blue pants, and a mask.
According to NOPD, he was armed with a silver and black semi-automatic pistol.
The stolen car is described as a gray, 2022 Nissan Sentra with a Louisiana License plate 471 GAj.
According to police, the victim attempted to leave the gas station when the suspect approached her.
He produced a firearm and demanded that the victim hand over everything that she had.
The victim stated that she didn’t have anything, and that’s when he demanded her keys.
Police say the victim complied, and the suspect fled into the car in an unknown direction.
This is an ongoing investigation.
