Four inmates who were involved in the Orleans Parish jailbreak last year are back in the custody of the Orleans Justice Center.
According to a statement issued by the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, Corey Boyd, Dkenan Dennis, Kendall Myles, and Gary Price were returned to the Orleans Justice Center by the Louisiana Department of Corrections on Monday morning.
All inmates were screened and appropriately classified and are being securely reintegrated into the OJC special management population, according to the statement issued by the sheriff’s office.
The statement goes on to say that the sheriff was alerted by DOC two weeks ago that the inmates would be returned due to bed capacity shortages and resource issues related to travel involving the inmates’ court dates.
Sheriff Michelle Woodfork said OJC leadership developed a housing placement and security plan to ensure appropriate precautions were made for the safety and security of existing and returning inmates.
The sheriff’s office said officials will work with local public safety partners to fully assess the progress of the defendants’ cases to determine how soon they will return to DOC.
