A woman was shot and killed early Thursday in the parking lot of a Hammond gas station, according to the Hammond Police Department.
Police reported the homicide around 1:15 a.m. June 4 at the Chevron at 3123 Highway 190 West.
Officers found the woman with multiple gunshot wounds when they arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reviewed security camera footage from the gas station. Police reported that a gray sedan was parked at one gas pump. A white sedan was parked at a nearby pump.
The video showed two people wearing dark clothing get out of the passenger side of the white sedan, according to investigators. Police reported both were armed with what appeared to be AR-style pistols.
Investigators said the two suspects fired at the rear passenger side of the gray sedan while the woman was inside. The suspects then got back into the white sedan and continued shooting before leaving the parking lot.
Police reported the white sedan was last seen heading west on Highway 190 toward Interstate 55.
