New Orleans officials said neutral ground parking will be allowed until 7 p.m. Sunday.
Residents are urged not to block intersections, streetcar tracks, sidewalks or bike paths.
Officials also warned people to avoid floodwaters. Drivers should never attempt to drive through flooded streets because it is dangerous, can damage vehicles, and may push water into nearby homes and businesses. If water rises around a car, drivers should abandon it immediately.
To report street flooding and life-threatening emergencies, call 911. Residents also can view street flooding reports at streetwise.nola.gov.
