The City of New Orleans is launching a new Emergency Alert System for Vulnerable Individuals.
New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno and New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick will provide information about the new emergency alert system for missing vulnerable children and adults set to launch on Monday.
The announcement coincides with a soon-to-be law named in honor of Bryan Vasquez, a boy who went missing for weeks last summer in New Orleans and was later found dead in a lagoon.
The law, called Bryan’s Call, will create an alert system similar to an Amber Alert for children and adults with cognitive and developmental delays.
It would require local or state police to send out immediate text alerts.
Bryan’s Call is awaiting the governor’s signature.
