St. Tammany Parish is combating illegal dumping thanks to a new grant.
The parish was awarded a $10,000 Keep Louisiana Beautiful Surveillance Camera Grant in June 2025.
According to the parish, the Department of Environmental Services was able to purchase cameras which were installed in March 2026.
Parish leaders say thanks to the new cameras, an illegal dumping incident was caught on camera in the Lacombe area when a toilet was dumped on the road.
The driver was identified and a gross littering citation was issued, according to parish officials.
The case will be heard in the 22nd Judicial District Court. Gross littering carries fines of $500–$1,000 plus court costs.
Residents are encouraged to report littering and illegal dumping to the LDWF Anti-Litter Hotline: 855-LA-LITTER (855-525-4837)
