A Louisiana political consultant and demographer has mapped out what parishes could decide the U.S. Senate GOP primary runoff.
Political consultant and demographer Greg Rigamer analyzed voter data ahead of Louisiana’s runoff elections, identifying key trends and areas that could influence the results.
Rigamer tracked data days before Saturday’s election and found a significant shift in voter behavior.
“What we saw is that Sen. (Bill) Cassidy had a real problem with Republicans, big time,” Rigamer said.
He explained that voter attitudes often change as elections approach.
Rigamer suggested that Republican candidate Julia Letlow’s path to victory may depend on winning Jefferson Parish, a heavily populated area with a large number of GOP voters.
“Jefferson is a really big Republican parish, a focal point,” Rigamer said.
On the Democratic side, Rigamer said that Jamie Davis, a third-generation farmer from Tensas Parish, won every parish in the state and narrowly missed securing an outright victory.
Davis now faces New Orleans-based candidate Gary Crockett in the runoff.
