Today is a WDSU First Warning Weather Impact Day due to the threat for heavy rain and strong storms.
Highs for today reach 81-85 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies.
The first bits of rain and storms arrive on the Northshore around 2 p.m. By 4 p.m., storms are spreading to the rest of the Northshore and the Bayou Parishes.
By 5 p.m., storms arrive for the River Parishes and the metro. The rain is expected to come to an end shortly after midnight.
The heaviest of the rain is expected to be about 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with impacts including strong to damaging winds and flash flooding.
1-2 inches of rain is possible with localized heavier amounts.
For the Tuesday morning commute, the rain is likely done. Highs Tuesday reach 81-86 degrees with a few isolated showers later in the evening.
For the rest of the week highs will remain in the low to mid 80s with minimal chances for rain.
