A Baton Rouge resident has started a recall effort against Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry.
The recall was brought forth by Marian Gbaiwon alongside another Baton Rouge native and co-chair, Katie S.
According to a post by Gbaiwon, the reason behind the recall stems from what they call a pattern of actions and public statements that undermine fair representation, misalign state priorities away from the needs of Louisiana communities, and emphasize punitive approaches over meaningful, long-term solutions.
The recall effort would require 600,000 valid signatures from Louisiana registered voters to move forward.
If the required signatures are gathered, the recall would have to be certified and added to a ballot for a vote.
WDSU has reached out to Gov. Landry’s office for a comment on the recall effort. At this time, a response has not been received.
