As the community mourns the loss of 8 children in the Shreveport mass shooting, the community is stepping up to help.
Carla Collins is a resident of Cedar Grove, where the shooting happened. She is also a community activist and tells WDSU she wanted to do something to help the families. She set up a GoFundMe account to help Christina Snow, one of the two mothers injured in the shooting. Christina’s three children were among the 8 killed in the gun violence.
“She’s going to need long-term care, she’s going to have to move, she’s going to need furniture. With the tragedy comes depression, and I can’t imagine,” said Collins.
Police said the shooting stemmed from domestic violence. Collins says Christina Snow is still at the hospital with serious injuries and knows the road to recovery will be a long one.
She hopes people will contribute and show how much they care.
