The New Orleans Privateers will begin the week in Baton Rouge when they take on the LSU Tigers on Tuesday night at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
New Orleans took the series finale 11-7 over HCU on Sunday. Miles Curley had three extra base hits in his return to the lineup over the weekend including a two-run homer. Meanwhile, the Privateer offense surged late with seven runs scored over the last two innings.
The Privateers are one of three teams in the Southland who have crested 600 total bases as a team heading into the week. Their 608 total bases trails only Southeastern (678) and UIW (616). The Privateers are in the top five in the conference in doubles and home runs. Dylan Biddick has drawn 42 free passes, which leads the Southland by six over second place Jhett Creel of Stephen F. Austin.
Biddick also leads the conference in on-base percentage with a .477. With 12 games left in the regular season, Biddick is 12 walks away from breaking into the top 10 in program history for walks in a single season.
The Privateer defense has moved up the ranks over the last couple of weeks. Since Mar. 29, New Orleans has made just three errors in their last 13 games. That translates to a .994 fielding percentage in that stretch.
At one point, New Orleans trailed the Southland in fielding percentage at .960. They currently stand in fourth with a .974 fielding percentage. Skylar Jones allowed two runs on four hits in 0.1 innings against ULM on 3/18. Since then, the senior has allowed just one run over 9.1 innings in five appearances.
Jones has three appearances in that stretch that have gone at least two innings and has lowered his ERA from 7.50 to 3.52.
