Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry announced on Monday that First Lady Sharon Landry’s Foundation Love One Louisiana plans to pay for the funeral expenses of all victims of the mass shooting in Shreveport.
The shooting was reported Sunday morning after police said multiple scenes were involved in the domestic incident.
According to police, eight children between the ages of 3 and 11 were killed. Two women were shot and underwent surgery for their injuries.
A 13-year-old child who escaped the shooting is also undergoing surgery for injuries after the child jumped from the roof to escape the gunfire.
The children killed were identified by their mothers as Jayla Elkins, 3; Shayla Elkins, 5; Kayla Pugh, 6; Layla Pugh, 7; Markaydon Pugh, 10; Sariahh Snow, 11; Khedarrion Snow, 6; and Braylon Snow, 5.
