A cast member from the hit Broadway musical “Six” stepped off the stage to help mentor New Orleans students.
Caroline Parker visited the classroom at Willow School in New Orleans to mentor middle school students in a theater workshop.
“When my teacher told me that we were having this workshop, I was like, bursting with joy,” said Basil Stanley.
The workshop was specifically for members of the school’s newly created musical theater program, giving students a chance to hone their performance skills with guidance from a professional.
The program aims to help students grow in musical theater and prepare them for potential careers in the arts.
Stanley, a student and fan of “Six,” shared her excitement about the musical, which offers a theatrical spin on the lives of Henry VIII’s six ex-wives.
“My favorite song is probably ‘Don’t Lose Your Head,’ which is the song Anne Boleyn sings,” Stanley said.
She also expressed her admiration for the musical’s empowering themes.
“It like, expresses so much about how it’s important for women to be themselves,” Stanley said.
Students and school leaders were thankful for the opportunity to spotlight young actors in New Orleans, helping them tell their own stories and encouraging them to chase their dreams.
