The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly crash that happened on Friday in Marrero.
JPSO says the crash happened just after noon, and deputies responded to a report of a two-car crash at the intersection of 8th Street and Barataria Boulevard.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Chevrolet Malibu that were involved in the crash.
They found a unresponsive elderly woman inside the Chevrolet Malibu, suffering from apparent crash-related injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and an additional passenger of the Malibu, along with the driver of the Grand Cherokee, were transported to the local hospital for treatment. All were listed in stable condition.
According to deputies, initial investigation indicated that the Jeep was traveling southbound on Barataria Boulevard when the driver of the Malibu attempted to cross at Barataria Blvd. at the 8th St. intersection, resulting in the collision.
Deputies say no signs of impairment were observed for any of the drivers, and the toxicology results are pending.
This is an ongoing investigation.
