On April 8, 2026, the Hammond Police Department Narcotics Division, with help from the HPD SWAT Team and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant at an apartment on Morris Road.
Investigators sought Quinton Jennings Jr., 20, of Hammond. Jennings was not at the apartment when officers arrived. During the search, Jennings drove into the apartment complex but left after seeing police activity. Patrol officers stopped Jennings a short time later and took him into custody.
Officers found Jennings in possession of a loaded AR-15 style pistol.
A search of Jennings’s residence uncovered several firearms, ammunition and suspected drugs, including:
A Micro Draco semi-automatic pistol loaded with a high-capacity magazine
A Glock handgun equipped with a machine gun conversion device and a loaded extended magazine
A Phoenix .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun with the serial number removed
A Glock handgun with two different serial numbers
A large quantity of ammunition
Several high-capacity magazines
A spent ammunition catcher
About 128 grams of suspected marijuana
Drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale
Police booked Jennings into jail on the following charges:
Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Two counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances
Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number
Possession of a machine gun
Another individual, Tredyn Barnes, 22, of Hammond, was inside the apartment during the search. Officers arrested Barnes on multiple outstanding warrants through the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Police said one semi-automatic handgun had been altered into a fully automatic firearm using a machine gun conversion device, often called a switch. These devices are illegal under both state and federal law.
