A Slidell house fire displaced seven people Monday night.
According to the St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1, the fire started at a home in the Huntwyck subdivision.
According to the fire department, the family’s son was awake upstairs and smelled smoke.
Fire officials say the home did not have working smoke detectors, and the family was fortunate the son was awake.
All seven people, including two young children, were upstairs at the time of the fire.
No one was injured, and the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
Fire officials believe the flames began on the stove.
