Several kids were arrested Saturday night after a game they were playing led to a homeowner firing warning shots in Kenner.
According to the Kenner Police Department, the kids were wearing ski masks and hoodies playing a game called “Senior Assassin.”
The game is an app that lets the kids track each other in an attempt to shoot one another with water guns.
Some of the kids playing the game hid behind two cars in a driveway in the 4100 block of W. Louisiana State Drive.
According to Kenner police, the homeowner noticed the kids and believed she was in danger and called police.
The son of the homeowner arrived before police and also found the kids.
According to police, the son of the homeowner fired four to five warning shots into his yard, fearing his safety.
The kids ran away from the home and were later arrested. The kids involved are facing criminal mischief charges.
“I don’t understand who would think it is a good idea to run around the city at 11:30 p.m. or anytime for that matter with their faces concealed, hoodies up, possessing pistols, water guns, or otherwise, while hiding under cars and homes,” said Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley. “This could have ended in a tragedy. It would be easy to understand how a resident or law enforcement officer would feel they were under siege and open fire.”
