A former Louisiana State University basketball star has been traded to a new team.
Angel Reese announced on her Instagram Monday that she would be headed to the Atlanta Dream.
Reese was drafted by the Chicago Sky as the No.7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.
According to ESPN, the Chicago Sky will get a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick for the trade.
The Dream also will receive 2028 second-round swap rights, sources told ESPN.
For the second consecutive season, the former LSU basketball star led the WNBA in rebounds. Last season, she averaged 12.6 rebounds.
She also led the league in double-doubles last season where she led the Sky with 14.7 points per game.
Reese helped lead the LSU Tigers to the first-ever national championship in 2023 in a historic win over Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes.
Reese and the Sky have had a strained relationship since she was drafted. She voiced frustration with the caliber of her teammates and threatened to leave the franchise.
Reese later apologized for these comments.
In her two seasons at LSU, Reese tallied 61 double-doubles, scoring in double figures in all 67 games of her LSU career.
She set the NCAA record with 34 double-doubles throughout the 2022-23 national championship season and had 27 over the past season.
Reese recorded a double-double in all 10 of her NCAA Tournament games at LSU, tied for the most consecutive double-doubles in tournament history.
She averaged 20.9 points and 14.4 rebounds per game at LSU.
