The attorney general’s office has arrested a New Orleans DJ for allegedly defrauding the Sewerage and Water Board Workers’ Comp. program.
Warren Murphy, 51, of Morrison Court, also known as DJ Hardhead, reported being injured on the job and was placed in a non-work status by a doctor in July 2022.
Because Murphy was receiving workers’ compensation benefits, he was required to sign and submit Monthly Report of Earnings forms disclosing any work activity, self-employment, or income during the reporting period.
According to agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, they learned that from Aug. to Oct. of 2022 and Feb. to March of 2023, Murphy was operating under the name “DJ Hardhead” and was working at local venues.
The AG’s office says Murphy failed to report this on the required Monthly Report of Earnings form and, as a result, defrauded the workers’ comp. program of more than $37,000.
Murphy, who was already incarcerated on first-degree rape and intentional exposure to AIDS charges, was rebooked and charged with misrepresentations concerning benefits over ten thousand dollars.
This is an ongoing investigation.
