Long lines formed at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Sunday morning.
One passenger said some people had spent the night at the airport.
A live view from the airport showed unusually heavy lines at security checkpoints. Airport officials said in a statement they expect higher passenger volume today and tomorrow and urged travelers to arrive at least three hours before their flights.
Lines appear to be improving.
