If you are headed to Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans today, get ready for long lines.
WDSU viewers called our newsroom, reporting long lines.
Airport officials said travelers should arrive at least three hours before their flights, warning that wait times could be as long as two hours. The airport said delays could be worse during peak periods, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.
MSY said lines are backed up to the parking garage.
Passengers were being directed to the first floor as airport staff worked to manage the overflow. TSA PreCheck is not open, while standard screening and CLEAR are available.
Escalators were shut down in an effort to organize the lines.
It was not immediately clear how many TSA officers were staffing checkpoints Sunday, but there were not enough workers to keep lines moving normally.
The delays come as the partial government shutdown continues.
