Frederick Douglass and John F. Kennedy High Schools are expected to merge next school year.
Staff members confirmed to WDSU that the plan was discussed at the meeting on Monday afternoon.
Douglass is a high-performing school, and both Douglass and Kennedy are part of the KIPP charter network.
Attendance and facilities were major factors in the effort to consolidate the schools.
The school board has been contacted for more details, but no response has been received as of news time.
