Hammond police arrested a suspect for murder early Monday morning.
Trevion Ferguson, 27, faces first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges.
Police say Ferguson walked into the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, allegedly to speak with officers regarding his involvement in a murder on March 14.
Shortly after, Ferguson fled the area on foot, traveling south toward Ponchatoula.
Officers from the Hammond Police Department, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ponchatoula Police Department, and U.S. Air and Marine Operations responded to the area and conducted an extensive search for Ferguson. Despite these efforts, the suspect was not located.
Just after 1 a.m. Monday, an alert citizen spotted Ferguson by a hotel on Railroad Avenue and alerted police. Hammond police officers arrived on the scene and were able to pursue the suspect and take him into custody.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
